  • Starting the day after you counted calories; eat 500 calories LESS than you normally do. So, lets pretend that the day you counted calories you counted 2000. For the rest of the week, you would eat 1500 calories a day.
  • Instead of eating three big meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), or eating all day all the time, spread those calories out over five smaller meals. Eat one meal every two and a half to three hours. By doing this you can speed up your metabolism.
  • Cardiology workouts is an important part of weight loss. If you are serious about losing weight, but dont want to do the cardiology workouts, then you are requiring your diet to do all of the work. Jog, walk, swim, jump rope, ride a bike, take an aerobics class, whatevercardiology workouts + proper diet = better than just doing one of the two.
  • At the end of that week, weigh yourself. Youll notice a difference just after one week! Now, dont expect to see a 20 pound difference. But if you have a LOT of weight to lose, you can lose it.

Are Your Loved Ones Hindering Your Weight Loss Efforts?

Sometimes our loved ones can hinder our weight loss goals. Often times their intention is not to hinder us.

For example, I love donuts. There was a time in my life when I simply could not say "no" to them. I would wind up binging on them - I could eat 4 to 6 donuts with no problem at all.

I began a weight loss program. I was following my plan to the tee. Then on Saturday morning, my husband brought home some donuts. "Here honey, I thought you'd enjoy these." I devoured every last crumb.

My husbands intention was not to make me go off plan. He wasn't even thinking that I was trying to lose weight. He simply wanted to do something nice for me.

Your loved ones could be hindering you by tempting you with seconds, cooking your favorite foods, or buying your favorite ice cream.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Identify your loved ones behavior that is sabotaging your weight loss efforts.
  2. Identify your loved ones reasons for that behavior.
    • Are they trying to do something nice for you?
    • Do they feel appreciated when you eat their cooking?
    • Are they bringing in the ice cream for themselves, not realizing that is making you lose track of your goals?
  3. Tell your loved one what you need from him/her.

You need to be assertive. Tell them exactly what you need from him/her and why. I told my husband ...

"I really appreciate the fact that you love me so much, that you brought donuts home. However as I can't seem to say "no" to them, I would appreciate it even more if you could restrain from bringing them home. A hug from you lets me know how much you care and appreciate me."

I told him in exactly what I needed and why. I showed him I appreciated his gesture, and gave him an alternative action so that his needs would be met as well.

If you are a little apprehensive about approaching your loved one, ask yourself why. It's probably one of two reasons:

  1. You like having someone to blame for your failures. It's easy to say, "I keep blowing it because my wife is such a good cook and demands I eat seconds." Or "My husband is so nice to me he keeps buying me donuts, if I tell him to stop, he may never buy me anything again." If this is you, you need to decide how important reaching your goal really is. Take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming others.

  2. You don't know how to approach them or you don't want to hurt their feelings. If this is the case then you need to practice ... in front of the mirror, to a friend, or even to the dog. Picture yourself telling your loved one exactly what you need from him/her to help you achieve your goals.

Remember, more than anything else, your loved ones want YOU to be HAPPY and HEALTHY, and will do anything in their power to help you achieve your goals.

Now that the New Year is behind us, it seems that everyone is looking for a way to shed those unwanted pounds.

There are 100's of choices, low fat, no fat, low carb, no carb, liquid diets, and of course all the groups you can join, just to name a few. All of them come with guarantees of your excess pounds just melting away as we starve, diet, and exercise.

Nothing can take the place of a healthy diet and regular exercise, no matter what we do, if we don't change the existing habits that we developed to become overweight in the first place. Chances are good that we will gain the weight back. The yo-yo effect is not healthy and can send our metabolism into a state of panic. Don't go looking for the drop 20 pounds in a week deal, it is not healthy and not sustainable. Be honest with yourself, look at your diet and weekly menu. Where can you start introducing healthy, fresh food that will jump start your system and feed your body the vitamins and minerals that your system needs to build a foundation for the lean and mean you!

Breakfast is a great time to introduce fresh fruit, grapefruit, oranges, and many others. Don't be afraid to try new things, star fruit, passion fruit, and pamelos are all great exotic fruits.

Start walking and don't use the weather as an excuse, mall walking has become very popular and many malls open their doors early just to accommodate the growing trend of mall walkers in areas where the weather can be too harsh to venture outside. You will find friendly, like minded individuals like yourself that are trying to get that dose of regular exercise and trim the excess pounds from their frames.

Farmer's markets are good for two things, first, you can get great deals on really fresh produce and second, you have to walk around to check out all the great deals. The smells, the colors, and selection can be invigorating and will get you to come back again and again. Make friends with a few of the vendors and I am sure you will walk away with some great deals and tips from your new friends.

Start a recipe swap club, if you are like my wife and love to cook, the internet offers many thousands of recipes and variations on old favorites. While you are gathering all those mouth-watering recipes, swap them with friends that you know will enjoy the great pasta salad or fresh bread recipe that you found.

All in all, losing those extra pounds can be seen as a new adventure that you have begun. Remember to have fun, remember that it is a new adventure and most of all look forward to fitting into the great new outfits you will be buying soon!

5 Weight Loss Secrets To Explode Your Progress

I have been getting emails from readers wanting to know the scoop on how to get into shape fast without all the fluff, and slew of supplements that some of the latest gurus' are spouting off just to fatten up their bank accounts.

I plan on going into depth more about each one at a later date, but for now to appease the crowd of people wanting to know right aways here ya go. There are more than just five main secrets to losing weight but these are a great start. If you just implement one of these a week then you'll start seeing results immediately!!

1. Exercise in the morning on an empty stomach.

It doesn't matter if it's only ten flipping minutes.... Just do something! Why? Your body will be forced to break down fat cells for energy. If you exercise later in the day then your body will use the available energy of the food you ate instead of stored fat, because it takes a lot more energy to use fat reserves verse recently broken down energy from food...

That's a nut shell overview of this idea... more later. But if you absolutely can't then please do some type of exercise anytime of the day.

2. Incorporate some type of weightlifting into your workout.

Studies have shown over and over again that people with more muscle mass stay leaner longer and lose weight at a much faster pace than others.

3. Stay away from diets like the plague...

Yes, that is correct. If you want to gain more weight back like the other 98% of the population who has ever gone on a diet....then sure go ahead and go on a diet. Diets are short lived and cause pain. Make a life style change. Slowly but surely do whatever it takes to just start eating more healthy.

4. Have your last meal 3-4 hours before bedtime and eat 5-6 meals a day.

Eating before bed is a sure-fire way to gain weight, and by eating smaller meals your body uses up the energy instead of storing it as fat.

5. VISUALIZE and FEEL how you are going to look and feel.

This is probably one of the most important concepts because if you can't see and FEEL yourself the way that you want to be then you will NEVER achieve it. You have to convince your subconscious mind that you are serious about losing the weight otherwise it will sabotage all of you efforts inweightloss.

You can buy all the supplements you want and they may work for a short while but then your subconscious will put you right back where it thinks your should be. Don't believe me, then fine, just look at your past success with weight loss. I seriously believe that if you don't believe you are worthy of having a great sexy body or whatever, then you will self sabotage yourself unconsciously.

This is a whole other ball of wax here, but I do plan on going more in depth in later days. But for now, simply write down how you would feel and look on a piece of paper, and spend 2-3 minutes in the morning and night 'Feeling and Visualizing' this.

Like I mentioned above, just pick one of the above mentioned tips to start seeing results.Then the next day or week pick another one to implement and before you know it, you'll be into the grove of losing weight easily and naturally and you will not even have to think about it because it will just be on autopilot. But the important concept here is taking action. Do something and stick with it. But just do something, if you can only exercise twice a week for only 10 minutes then do it.
