Weight Loss the Natural Way

Almost everybody struggles with their weight at some point in their lives. For most of us, this turns into an ongoing struggle that only gets more difficult as we get older. Unless we are able to get a handle on our weight, it may become more and more difficult for us to lose it. Even though all of us would enjoy having some kind of pill that would magically melt the weight off of us, it just isn't that easy. That isn't to say, however, that we can't help our weight loss along through the use of herbal supplements.

Weight loss is as simple as calories in, calories out. If we take in more calories than we are burning off during the day we will gain weight. On the other hand, if we keep ourselves at a deficit, as far as calories are concerned, we will lose weight on a daily basis. Many of us have several things that are working against this weight loss, such as poor dietary habits, a slow metabolism and lack of physical activity. If you have a strong desire to lose weight but do not have the time or motivation to do so, these herbal supplements may be able to help you overcome your problems.

The first type of herbal supplements that you can take actually helps to curb your appetite. I don't know about you, but I often find myself eating when I'm not really hungry. At times, especially when I'm stressed out, it seems like I could eat all day long. By taking an herbal supplement to help control your appetite, you take this compulsive eating away from yourself. You might find that this is all you really need in order to begin losing weight. Once you see the weight start to come off, you would be surprised at how motivating it can be.

Another problem that we have to deal with is slow metabolism. This can be as a result of a glandular problem, such as low thyroid or a simple matter of lack of physical exercise. There are herbal supplements that will be able to help you to pick up your metabolism and balance your body out. This will have the effect of helping you to burn additional calories throughout the day and even while you are sleeping. If you are at a slight calorie surplus now, these supplements may put you at a deficit without changing your eating habits at all.

Of course, the best way to combat weight loss through the use of supplements is by combining these two. By taking a multi-supplement that helps to curb your appetite and build up your metabolism at the same time, you're giving weight loss efforts the 1-2 punch. Not only will you be eating fewer calories, you will be burning them at a faster rate. It's one of the easiest ways to kick start your waist loss program and get yourself on the road to that trim body you have been dreaming about.

Fat And Starch Blockers To Aid Weight Loss

In the effort to lose weight, some people will try any method available. Often, diet and exercise just dont seem to shed the pounds fast enough. As a result, some get frustrated with the lack of results they are getting trying to lose weight the old-fashioned way, and turn to quickie weight-loss methods. Many people turn to fat and starch blockers as a supplemental aid in weight loss. But, do they really work?

Fat and starch blockers both work to prevent certain nutrients from being digested. This, in theory, is supposed to help a person to lose weight. Fat blockers usually contain a fiber called chitosan, which is derived from the exoskeletons of certain shellfish. As the fat blockers pass through the system without being digested, they absorb fat along the way, all of which is eliminated in the stool.

Starch blockers work in much the same way as fat blockers, except that they prevent carbohydrates from being absorbed into the body. Starch blockers, which are usually made from bean and wheat germ extracts, help the carbohydrates pass directly through the digestive tract, where they are also eliminated in the stool.

Both fat and starch blockers are intended to be taken before meals, when weight loss is the goal. This way, the fat and starches that are ingested during the meal will not be absorbed by the body, which will aid in weight loss, or at least prevent weight gain.

Side effects of Using energy blocking weight loss aids

Despite the fact that these weight loss aids promise to help you lose weight, there are some pretty serious side effects that can occur with use. These include:

Fat Blockers:

  • Cramping
  • Gas
  • Diarrhea
  • Vitamin deficiency because some key vitamins that the body requires are fat soluble, including K, A, D, and E, they will not be absorbed. This can be dangerous to the body over time.

Starch Blockers:

  • Bloating
  • Cramping
  • Gas
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Most starch blockers on the market claim to slow the digestion of carbohydrates and induce weight loss. Recent studies suggest that, in higher dosages, starch blockers do in fact slow carb digestion. However, most pills on the market are about 3000 mg short of this dosage. Furthermore, there is no real proof that starch blockers or fat blockers help a person lose any weight.

Quite simply, the best, and most healthy, way to lose weight is through eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly. By looking for a quick weight loss pill solution, you could be doing your body more harm than you realize, and the effects could last a lifetime.

Why Don't Diets Bring Me Permanent Weight Loss?

"What is wrong with me? Why can't I lose weight permanently?"

If you've ever asked yourself this question, then you've probably also wondered:

"I have such ability to make other changes in my life, why do I struggle so much with this one?"

"I have a great tenacity to stick at other things in my life, how come I am so weak willed when it comes to losing weight?"

"How come other people lose weight but I still struggle?"

Well, after years of being in this same dilemma I figured out that it's NOT that we are weak willed, or lack the tenacity to lose weight permanently. The fact of the matter is, we have been using a mindset of thought processes and a range of habits that work against our motivation, rather than with it.

What you have probably not noticed is the 98% of people, like you, who put all the weight back on and more within 2-3 years! Like me you may well have believed the propaganda that you can be a perfect size 10 if only you try harder, which has meant you have spent years ignoring reality!

Motivation for change and lose weight permanently is NOT about working harder it is about working smarter. The key is NOT to keep repeating the same patterns of habits and thoughts that are working against you. It is also about being realistic regarding what you can change. Foremost it is about loving yourself now NOT at some distant time when you are a desired weight.

To effect any significant motivation and long-lasting change to your shape, size or weight you firstly need to accept 3 things...

1. The reality of 'What is'

2. That fear holds us back from achieving the changes we desire

3. Change is an ongoing process NOT A DESTINATION!

By the reality of 'What is', I mean accepting you body shape and the assets you were genetically born to with. That includes, for many people, accepting that the body changes shape with age. It is also about accepting that you are unique, beautiful and different. So comparing yourself to others is a complete waste of time and energy!

Accepting 'What is' and finding ways of learning to love all of you as you are now, is essential to sustained weight loss motivation. Of course that doesn't mean not having a clear vision or goal of the changes you want to create, just that they need to be realistic and achievable.

For some, but not all, there are fears holding you back! Lots of them that stop you achieving the permanent weight loss you so long for. The problem is that some fears are so well hidden that you probably do not even know they are there! In the book 'FAT, Exploding the Myths' by Lisa Colles, Dawn French describes her fear of "not knowing who she was or how to use her body" when she reduced in size to a 10-12 for her wedding day. Our fears come in all shapes and sizes and for some, acknowledging them is an essential part of the change process.

One of the biggest barriers to change, however, is seeing it as an enforced period of stress, struggle, scarcity or conflict that eventually has an end. Learning to love change in all its facets and seeing the learning in each day is so important. Accepting the joys of new experiences and being excited in the knowledge that it is not the destination that is important but the ongoing journey. These are the keys to weight loss success and sustained motivation.
