Simple Weight Loss

Once a week, indulge in a high-calorie-tasting, but low-calorie, treat. This should help keep you from feeling deprived and binging on higher-calorie foods.

Treat high-calorie foods as jewels in the crown. Make a spoonful of ice cream the jewel and a bowl of fruit the crown. Cut down on the chips by pairing each bite with lots of chunky, filling fresh salsa

After breakfast, make water your primary drink. At breakfast, go ahead and drink orange juice. But throughout the rest of the day, focus on water instead of juice or soda.

Carry a palm-size notebook everywhere you go for one week. Write down every single morsel that enters your lips -- even water. Studies have found that people who maintain food diaries wind up eating about 15 percent less food than those who don't.

Eat five or six small meals or snacks a day instead of three large meals. A 1999 South African study found that when men ate parts of their morning meal at intervals over five hours, they consumed almost 30 percent fewer calories at lunch than when they ate a single breakfast. Other studies show that even if you eat the same number of calories distributed this way, your body releases less insulin, which keeps blood sugar steady and helps control hunger.

Downsize your dinner plates. Studies find that the less food put in front of you, the less food you'll eat. Conversely, the more food in front of you, the more you'll eat.

If you follow these simple weight loss tips you should start to lose weight.

Natural Ways to Lose Weight

Many of us are in a never ending staring contest with our bodies: watching our weight is a perpetual thing. But, unfortunately, this often involves a diet or - as many people like to call it - a "die with a t." Shakes, powders, herbs, even surgeries have inundated the market and spoken to the desires of so many of us. Still, when it comes down to it, there are no better ways to lose weight and keep it off than the natural ways. Doing what comes naturally may prove to work where other weight loss plans have failed.

Get Enough Sleep: Most of us love to sleep, curled up under the covers and letting our dreams whisk us away. Fortunately for snoozers, a 2004 study by researchers at Columbia University concluded that sleeping was a great way to manage weight. Theorizing that a lack of sleep alters metabolism, and affects the hormones which dictate appetite, researchers found that people who slept only two to four hours a night were 73 percent more likely to be overweight. Those who slept only five hours a night were 50 percent more likely and those who slept only six hours a night where 23 percent more likely. On the flip side, people who regularly got over ten hours of sleep a night were 11 percent less likely to have excess pounds.

Exercise: We know, we know: getting yourself out of bed in the morning to run five miles isn't your idea of a good time. But, for those who want to lose weight or even maintain weight, exercise is necessary. Not only does exercising burn calories, but it sky rockets your metabolism, burns fat, and builds muscle mass. It also gives you the ability to feel healthy overall, a feeling that helps you stick to your weight loss plans. If you can't bear the thought of running five miles, start with something easier: walk, ride a bike, or join an aerobics class. Keeping your exercise plan varied will increase your ability to stick with it.

Eat More During the Day: Sure, it sounds too good to be true: eating more to lose weight can't possibly work. But, it has been proven that those who graze over several small meals instead of two or three large ones have an easier time losing weight. The reasons behind this is that "grazers" keep themselves somewhat full throughout the day. Thus, they rarely sit down to a meal, half starved, and gorge themselves on a plate of ribs or a bucket of chicken. Simply, they aren't hungry enough to do that.

Drink Water: The easiest way to lose weight may be found in - of all places - a bottle of water. Drinking water helps a person feel full, curbs hunger cravings, and helps the body detoxify by eliminating excess waste. Oftentimes, a person's cravings for food can be met simply by drinking a bottle of water. Replacing other drinks - such as sodas and juices - with water is a sure fire way to cut calories and lose plenty of weight in the process.

Weight Loss And Starvation

If you've ever tried to lose weight by starving yourself then you already know that not only does this not work, but it actually backfires, and usually makes you GAIN weight. When you try to go for extended periods of time without eating (more than four or five hours) you're basically working against your body.

Not Smart.

See, eating is natural. It's instinctive. We are hard wired as human beings to eat. So what normally happens when someone tries to starve themselves is they eventually end up succumbing to their natural instincts, and instead of eating...

They binge eat!

Now here's where it gets even worse: When this happens someone might believe that they "failed" and they need to develop more "discipline" or "will power."

They start believing that the problem is a lot worse than it actually is. Now, as I discuss in the book Living Life Lean, there is tremendous power in discipline, yet it definitely doesn't serve you when you try to use it to starve yourself!

Another reason why this misconception is so destructive is because it damages your metabolism, which is critical to burning fat and living lean. I would think that by now this debunked "strategy" would be extinct.

But it's not.

I see so many people who believe they will be different. In their mind they think it will actually work for them, and THEN once they reach their desired outcome they'll stop.

Is this, or will this ever be a solution to living life lean?

Not a chance.

So what is the solution? You take the exact OPPOSITE approach and begin to eat more often. Ironically, once you begin to eat more frequently you'll think about food less and it's actually a much easier way to become lean.

All the while, you're keeping your body in a constant state of thermogenisis (your internal body temperature is raised) and your metabolism is running on all cylinders and burning fat at an optimum rate.

Lets discuss some steps which should be taken to decrease weight in a proper way.

Family support family plays a great role in a persons weight loss program. Family members can help in many ways for example parents can motivate all family members to led a health way of life. Entire diet can be changed for whole family all high calorie food can be cut off from the diet. Person who is having support of his family gets better results than the person whose family is not supporting him.

People who skip breakfast feel very hungry and they eat more than they are supposed to. Running For Weight Loss

Obesity has emerged to be a matter of great concern in recent times with an increasing section of the population falling victim to it. However, it is not only the adults who are obese, a growing number of children are also overweight. Therefore, it is high time that obesity is curbed and the only effective means of countering obesity is by means of losing weight. It is necessary to mention here that there are several weight loss supplements and pills available in the market which assures quick weight loss. However, most of them are actually quite useless and some in fact are harmful for the body. Therefore it is always advisable to stick to the traditional means of losing weight, i.e. by maintaining a balanced diet and following a regular physical training session.

There are various forms of aerobic exercises which are considered to be immensely beneficial in aiding weight loss in obese individuals. Running is the foremost among them. Running or jogging is one of the most effective means of losing weight and apart from aiding in weight loss, running has several other benefits as well. With the help of running, it is possible for an obese individual to shed those extra calories and fat deposits that have accumulated in his body and running facilitates toning of the muscles of the body providing a healthy physical appearance. In fact a regular course of jogging or running in any part of the day can be very useful in facilitating swift weight loss.

Unlike the various artificial supplements available in the market, running would not produce any adverse effect on the body. It is quite true that in the present world, the scenario is such that it is quite difficult for individuals to make out spare time form their rigorous professional schedules to devote to some physical activity. As a result of this lack of physical exercising, as a person grows older, there occurs considerable weakening of the bones and muscles of the body. Running prevents the weakening of the bones and muscles of the body and rather facilitates their functioning and strengthens them considerably. Moreover, unlike rigorous exercising in the gym, running seems to be a better and more comfortable option for attaining weight loss.

Obesity is responsible for increasing an individual's risk in contracting lethal diseases like cancer and heart ailments. Running greatly curbs such tendencies. Much on the contrary running greatly increases the functioning of the body's immunity system and regulates blood pressure. It therefore also lowers the risk of these fatal diseases.

Many weight loss diets fail from lack of discipline.

Does Water Help To Loss Weight?

A common question amongst dieters today is: "Does water help to loss weight?". It's true it does! But before we get into the specifics, it's VERY important for you to understand that there is a huge misconception about water and weight loss. This misconception is that many people think that water causes excess weight to appear and the answer to losing weight fast is to drink less. This is WRONG!

It is extremely important that the body be hydrated at all times! Drinking water is one of the most important elements of living a healthy life as well as losing weight! When you drink water, you clean your body, you hydrate it and fuel it to continue performing well. This includes digestion, blood circulation, energy and so much more!

So how does water help to loss weight? Well here's how. If you drink regular water 8 times a day, you can help clean your body from the inside. A lot of times unhealthy substances do not get properly digested and begin to decay inside the body and water will help flush it out of your body!

Again, all it takes to see weight loss results with water is to just drink it 8 times a day. Now a common mistake people make is they drink "sports drinks" such as Gatorade and think that is a much better substitute than water. It isn't. Gatorade, sports drinks, mass produced juices, sodas and popular drinks are all processed and unnatural. When you drink it, your body is not being properly hydrated. It requires water and not some bootleg version of it. It is important that you stop drinking these things!

Drinking 8 glasses of water per day can help restore your health greatly. If you want to enjoy a healthy drink that is sweet, you can always drink tea and use honey as a sweetener! The less processed drinks you consume and the more water you drink, the healthier your body will get. And the healthier it gets, the better it performs which WILL lead to weight loss. It's a simple health chain! Generally people can see weight loss results from drinking water in about 3-4 weeks.

Drinking water to lose weight is 1 of the 10 easiest ways to lose weight naturally and safely. However there are many other methods which are just as simple and even more effective at helping people lose weight fast and safely. Weight Loss Scams

Anyone who has spent enough time surfing the internet or checking email has seen ads or websites selling weight-loss products. Pills, food programs, strange diets, teas, hypnosis... The list goes on and on. The truth is there is a huge demand for such products. Our society puts increasing value in having a beautiful, toned body, yet fosters unhealthy behaviors like eating fast food and watching television. The result is that many people want to look thin but keep gaining weight. They might not have time or willpower to undertake realistic weight loss programs, so they become susceptible to fad diets, pills and other commercial weight loss products that don't work. Many of these products are not only ineffective but dangerous for your health.

Here are some guidelines you should use to steer clear of potentially dangerous bogus weight loss products.

According to the FTC, products likely fake if they claim to:
-keep you from absorbing calories or fat.
-cause you to lose at least two pounds a week without exercise.
-cause you to lose a significant amount of weight no matter what you eat.
-cause weight loss by applying the product to the body externally.
-cause you to lose weight forever, even when you stop using the product.
-cause every person who uses the product to lose a lot of weight.

Here some specific products to watch out for.

Natural Fat Burning Pills. These pills are marketed as "natural" weight loss enhancers, but the truth is they're not much different than the weight loss pills of the 1970's that were banned because they contained amphetamines, or speed. Just because a product is naturally derived does not mean that it's safe or effective. In this case, these type of pills use a natural compound that is very similar to ephedrine, the dangerous and addictive chemical present in the original diet pills.

Magic Ab Exercisers. While it is good for you to exercise your abdominal muscles, it won't make your belly disappear magically. The truth is that we can't lose weight in a particular part of our bodies be exercising only that part of the body. Only a comprehensive exercise program will work. Some abdominal exercise machines may work better than others, but none will cause weight loss alone.

Goops, goos, gels, herbs, drinks, powders or anything else sold on TV infomercials. The number one warning sign that a product is a fake is that it isn't sold through conventional distribution channels. These products make claims that would not stand in a normal commercial environment. But in a half-hour TV infomercial where the sellers control all the information, they can seem effective. Be especially wary of ads that use word like "miracle," "scientific breakthrough," and "secret formula."

Fad diets. People spend millions of dollars on books outlining strange diets that supposedly cause weight loss miracles. There are too many of these diets to possibly discuss here, but one principal applies to all of them. If a fad diet causes you to lose weight, you will put the weight back on when you stop the diet. And many of these diets are ineffective to begin with, because every person's body reacts differently to them. Consult a doctor or nutritionist before you begin any diet, whether it comes from a book or not.

Hopefully this article helped you sort through the mountain of misinformation out there. Remember, if a product sounds too good to be true, it is.
